Serve

Outreach
At St. Mary's, you will find a warm, embracing community of Christians. With this in mind, one of the best ways to join our active parish is through service.  Using the links on the left, please find a variety of ways you can assist in our devotion to Christ.

Current Outreach Projects and Upcoming Events:

Special Outreach Support for Grace Church-Woodlawn in 2012: In order to effectively meet the needs of Grace Church, there has been a change in the collection items for the month of March.  They are in need of NEW or GENTLY USED tennis shoes or sneakers (especially mens sizes 11 and up) and NEW/GENTLY USED athletic socks.  You may drop off your donations in the baskets in the foyer of Drennen House and in RMH.  Grace Church is so appreciative of the items that St. Mary's is collecting for them-THANK YOU to everyone who has helped!

Upcoming collections include:
March:  New or GENTLY used tennis shoes, sneakers, and/or athletic socks (especially mens sizes 11 and up)
April:   New T-Shirts- Men and Women's sizes Large and up (XL, XXL, 2X, etc.)
May:  New or GENTLY used children’s books

If you would like to help with this project or have any questions, please contact Alice Yeates at 969-5873 or by email.  All donations will be greatly appreciated by Grace Church and those they serve!

St. Mary’s Knitters:  We will have TWO outreach knitting projects this year!  The scarves we knitted for the homeless in our area were very well received during the 2011 Christmas holidays, so we will do this again for Christmas 2012.  ALSO, NEW THIS YEAR:  We will knit lap-size throws for members of the St. Mary’s parish family who are suffering from serious illnesses.  Knitters of ALL SKILL LEVELS are invited to participate in this wonderful, “close-knit”  community!  For more information, please contact Terry Proctor at 322-7429.

Appliance Ministry in Green County EXPANDS TO HELP TORNADO VICTIMS:  Once again our area has been struck by tornados leaving many people without homes or with homes that are severely damaged.  To help these folks out the Appliance Ministry, whose main focus is the Blackbelt region, is temporarily expanding its outreach to residents of the Clay-Chalkville-Trussville area.  You can help our neighbors rebuild by donating your old appliances or gently used cabinetry.  Please contact Bill Ringland at 612-7738 for pick-up info and details.
