Youth

St. Mary's Youth

We are passionate about strengthening the Body of Christ through our 5th thru 12 grade students. We believe in an environment that is grounded in Biblical study of the life of Christ and open dialogue on how Christ's life impacts our daily lives, families, and friendships. We have committed group of leaders, parents, and volunteers who create and plan studies, mission work, fellowship events and more... all to help deepen the faith of our youth.

CLUB 56 / Grades 5-6

5th and 6th graders participate in Level III of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd curriculum. This class meets on the Mountain Top (4th floor of Drennen House).

Jr. High / Grades 7-8

7th and 8th graders study Rite-13 curriculum to prepare our youth to shape their own faith. Rite-13 focuses on the gifts of manhood and womanhood and the process of becoming an adult through the lens of Christ’s life and teachings. Our lessons will focus on how our prayer life and our spiritual life affect our life in the secular world that surrounds us. This class meets in the Jr. High room in the Youth Space.

Sr. High / Grades 9-12

9th through 12th graders study the Virginia Theological Seminary’s Episcopal Curriculum for Youth (ECY). This is a multi-dimensional program meant to encourage the development of our personal belief systems. For the 2015-16 school year, we will be exploring the concept of our successes and failures through a Christian lens. We will talk about stress, competition, and what being successful looks like to both God and humans. This class meets in the Sr. High room in the Youth Space.

There's always something going on in the Youth Ministry, so be sure to follow-us on Facebook and keep our upcoming events at the top of your priority list.

1st Sunday of Every Month/ 11:00 to 3:00pm On the 1st Sunday of each month, a group of youth gathers in the basement of Drennen House to have fun, serve others, and worship Christ together. Episcopal Youth Community (also known as EYC or youth group) is a time spent enjoying fellowship and building community. This may take shape in several ways ranging from a fun activity (such as paintball or a movie) to a service project (such as serving at Community Kitchens or at the West End Community Garden). We close our time together with worship. EYC is meant to facilitate a fun and safe environment where youth from all backgrounds are welcome to experience an authentic Christian community. We meet in the Club 56 room in the Youth Space and lunch is provided! Friends are always welcome!
