Youth

 

Youth Ministry Mission:
The mission of S. Mary’s-on-the-Highlands Youth Ministry is to inspire our youth to build a strong foundation of faith with Christ as the cornerstone through Christian Education and outreach.

 

EYC is for youth in the 7th-12th grades and is the place in which the youth deepen their relationship with Christ, learn more about the Episcopal Church, keep the Baptismal Covenant by serving others, share meals, and have fun!  EYC is split into two groups:  Jr. High, which is for 7th & 8th graders and Sr. High, which is for 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th graders. Friends are ALWAYS welcome to participate in any and all EYC activities.

When is EYC?
EYC meets on Sunday afternoons immediately following Sunday School (unless otherwise noted).  Both groups will gather in Randolph Memorial Hall for lunch  before moving to the youth space. It is important that youth arrive and are picked up on time!  Our schedule is fairly tight and having to wait on stragglers takes away from our time as a group.  (We always want you to come, even if you are late!!)  Please drop-off and pick-up in the new parking lot next to Drennen House.

What do we do at EYC?
Jr. High:  We begin EYC with lunch in Randolph Memorial Hall.  Following lunch, EYC begins.  We might play a game, have a continuation of our Rite-13 lesson, have a fun event, or do an outreach project.  A fun, safe atmosphere for all 7th-8th graders is guaranteed.

Sr. High:  After eating lunch we begin each meeting with a prayer and some check-in time.  We then use our EYC time for community and team building!  The last Sunday of the month will be focused on outreach in our community

We also have several “fun” events each semester (bowling, capture the flag, movie nights….)
